Hawaii Island police are requesting public assistance to identify a man wanted in connection with a theft investigation in Hilo.

On July 28, a man left a grocery store on the 200 block of Kinoole Street without paying for items valued at $157. The suspect is described as being his 30s, 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9, 180 to 190 pounds with dark hair and a mustache and goatee.

Police ask anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Informants who prefer to remain anonymous can call the islandwide Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers keeps all information confidential.
